The “Wreaths Across America” program was held at the Wilmington Senior Center on Dec. 16.

The event is held annually on the third Saturday in December across the United States to honor deceased veterans. Another ceremony was held at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery at noon the same day.

Members from the Wilmington Diocese Gospel Choir participated in the program.

Bill Conley is coordinator for the event at the senior center. He also shared the history of the African Americans who served during the Civil War. He along with others were instrumental in having recipients for the African American Medal of Honor Memorial erected on 19th and Baynard Blvd. in Wilmington.
