NEWARK — The McAuley Learning Center at Christ the Teacher Catholic School recently received a $1,000 grant from the Matthews Children’s Foundation. The money will be used to purchase math manipulatives and reading comprehension materials.

The McAuley program provides support services for students with learning differences.

Cole Hutchinson and Julie Henessey from Daniels & Hutchinson Funeral Home stopped by Christ the Teacher on Feb. 14 to deliver the check. The funeral home has operated for more than 100 years out of a Victorian-era home on Broad Street in Middletown.

Matthews Children’s Foundation supports local children’s charities across the United States. It partners with customers of Matthews Auroro Funeral Solutions and Matthews Cemetery Products to support child-focused nonprofit organizations.

Nearly $5 million has been distributed since 1992.
