As we embark on the journey of the 2024 Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal, the theme of this year’s campaign, “One Body, One Spirit in Christ,” calls us to recognize and act upon our shared duty to care for one another, to support the ministries that serve our communities, and to ensure that no one is left wanting for spiritual or temporal support.

It is with a sense of renewed purpose and commitment that we announce our goal for this year: $5,125,000.00. This represents a modest but necessary increase of 2.5% over last year’s target. This decision was not made lightly; it reflects the growing needs throughout the Diocese of Wilmington and our collective responsibility to respond to these needs with generosity and compassion.

The increase in our goal is a direct response to the increasing needs we see around us — needs that touch every corner of our diocese, from the youngest among us to the oldest, from our bustling cities and suburbs to our quietest rural areas and beach towns.

In line with our goal, we are also placing a special emphasis on increasing participation among our parishioners. It’s not just about meeting a financial target; it’s about inviting every member of our diocesan family to join in this mission, to contribute in whatever way they can, and to truly make this appeal their own. We believe that by increasing participation, we are not only raising the necessary funds to support our ministries but also building and strengthening our community together.

Participation is the cornerstone of this year’s appeal. We want to send a clear message: every contribution matters, every act of generosity counts, and every person has a role to play in building the kingdom of God here in the Diocese of Wilmington. Whether you can give a little or a lot, whether you can volunteer time or offer prayers, your participation is a crucial part of this collective effort. By joining hands and hearts, we can achieve our goal and surpass it, impacting lives and making a real difference in our communities.

This year, let us focus on building and strengthening our community together. Let’s increase our participation, deepen our connections with one another, and demonstrate the power of collective action motivated by faith and love. The 2024 Faith and Charity Catholic Appeal is an opportunity for each of us to step forward, to say “yes” and to be part of a movement that is greater than the sum of its parts.

Join us in this vital mission. Together, let’s meet our goal, increase our participation and continue to build the kingdom of God in the Diocese of Wilmington. Your support, participation and prayers are the foundation upon which this appeal stands. Together, we can impact lives and ensure that our church remains a beacon of hope, faith and charity for all.

Let’s make 2024 a year of unprecedented unity and generosity. Join us, and let’s impact lives together.
