All-state volleyball teams include several Catholic school players

Four Catholic school volleyball players are among the seven named first-team all-state, which was announced Nov. 14 by the Delaware Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association. Several players from Catholic schools populate the second and third teams as well.

The first team included Julia Kochie of Archmere, Cassidy Markel of Ursuline, Jess Molen of Padua, and Savannah Seemans of St. Mark’s. All four are juniors.

The other members of the first team are Danielle Nathan of Wilmington Friends;

Julia Kochie

Maddie Matheny of state champion Charter School of Wilmington; and Maddie Sachs of Tower Hill. Those three are all seniors.

Second team

Lauren Edmiston, junior, Archmere; Kylie Nocket, junior, Ursuline; Mackenzie Sobczyk, sophomore, Padua; Kamani Conteh, senior, Wilmington Christian; Raychel Ehlers, sophomore, Indian River; Alyssa Faville, junior, Conrad; and Kennie Swanson, senior, Wilmington Charter.

Third team

Corinne Furey, junior, Ursuline; Abby Thibodeau, junior, St. Mark’s; Michelle Kozicki, junior, Padua; Jessica Charlier, senior, St. Georges; Ashlin DeLucia, junior, Tatnall; Morgan Holman, senior, Smyrna; and Morgan Ritchie, sophomore, Newark Charter.

Nathan was named player of the year.
