The scoreboard tells the story as the Spartans celebrate.

MILLTOWN — Two Saint Mark’s pitchers allowed just three hits, and the Spartans’ offense scored four times in the second inning of a 6-1 victory over St. Elizabeth in high school baseball action on March 25. It was the Spartans’ third win in as many games.

Shawn Satterfield walked to start the bottom of the second for Saint Mark’s, and Zach Pruitt followed with an infield single. Both advanced on a wild pitch, but Vikings pitcher Luke Trout avoided trouble momentarily by snagging a hard-hit ground ball and getting the first out.

Trout struck out the next batter, but Aidan Lehane singled to left to score Satterfield. Ryan Flasinski then struck out, but the ball got behind the catcher, allowing Flasinski to reach base and Pruitt to score. Lehane came in on a throwing error, and Tyler Mosher doubled in Flasinski for the fourth run of the inning.

That was enough for Spartans starter Ian Keane. The junior retired the Vikings in order in the third and overcame two errors in the fourth with the help of a 6-4-3 double play. His final inning was the fifth, when he hit the leadoff batter but retired the next three Vikings.

The Vikings scored their lone run in the sixth off relief pitcher Coleton Sims. Jackson Davis walked to open the frame, and he moved to second on a groundout. Ryan McCormac brought him home with a single to right. Mosher drove in the final two Spartans runs with a double to left in the sixth.

Saint Mark’s (3-0) begins a four-game road trip on Wednesday against Newark Charter at Leroy Hill Park at 4 p.m. The Vikings (0-1) are home at Canby Park against Delaware Military Academy on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m.
