WILMINGTON – St. Thomas More took a 6-3 lead into the bottom of the seventh inning during its baseball game Thursday against Howard, but the final three outs proved elusive. Howard scored three times to tie the game, then completed the comeback with a walkoff single in the eighth and a 7-6 win in the heat at Frawley Stadium.

The seventh inning was one of close calls that did not go the Ravens’ way. A walk, double and a hit batter loaded the bases with nobody out. Austin Zarco singled home Jacob Couden with the first run to make it 6-4. Read more »

WILMINGTON – Fourth-ranked St. Mark’s and rival Salesianum, the No. 6 team, played a classic baseball game May 8 at Frawley Stadium, with the Spartans pulling out a 2-1 win in eight innings.

GREENVILLE – Brett Brooks had two hits and four runs batted in as St. Elizabeth took an 8-1 victory in nonconference baseball on April 26. Brooks drove in a pair of runs in each of the sixth and seventh innings, when the Vikings did all their damage.

Tatnall got on the board with a single run in the first, and Hornets starting pitcher Oliver Campbell made that stand up for most of the fast-paced game. Campbell worked out of a bit of trouble in the fourth, when David Hazelton started the inning with a long double to the fence in left-center. Hazelton reached third with one out, but St. Elizabeth could not score. Read more »

WILMINGTON – Ryan Bradigan pitched a complete-game two-hitter to lead top-ranked Conrad past No. 7 St. Mark’s, 3-0, on April 23.

The Red Wolves’ offense had no easy task as it had to face Spartans starter Billy Sullivan. Red Wolves Kyle Walker led off with a double but was thrown out trying to stretch it to a triple. Spartans centerfielder Austin Colmery fired the ball to Brian Gilardi, who nailed the runner at third as Chris Ludman applied the tag. That play came in handy as Brock Nowell doubled two batters later, but Sullivan got out of the jam.
