When Saint Mark’s and St. Elizabeth kicked off Catholic Schools Week with a boys basketball game at the St. E Center, the night did not start with a tipoff, but a tip of the hat.
Players from both teams took the opportunity to honor a teacher who has played a prominent role in their education. A group of Saint Mark’s teachers made the trip and were introduced along with their player, and each of the Vikings had selected a teacher of their own.
The Vikings won the game that night, 63-48, but Saint Mark’s will have a chance for redemption on Super Bowl Sunday when the teams get together for a 2:30 p.m. matinee at Saint Mark’s.
