Sister Regina Kehoe, formerly a teacher at Ursuline Academy, dies at 95

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Sister Regina Kehoe, a member of the Ursulines for the Roman Union Eastern Province USA for 73 years, died Feb. 24 at the United Hebrew Home in New Rochelle, N.Y. She was 95.

Sister Regina spent 60 years in education, including in the Diocese of Wilmington at Ursuline Academy’s lower school. She said in a Facebook video from 2017 that it was her southernmost assignment. She also served at other Ursuline schools, mostly in New York. She taught gerontology at the College of New Rochelle, and she also served on the board of trustees at several schools.

In addition, Sister Regina was provincial of the Eastern Province of the congregation from 1973-79, leading a group that numbered approximately 300 women religious. She was a member of the Office of Evangelization in the Archdiocese of New York from 1979-82 and was assistant coordinator of Pope John Paul II’s visit to New York in 1979.

Visitation for Sister Regina will be Feb. 29 from 3:30-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 4:15 at the Ursuline Province Center, 1338 North Ave., New Rochelle. The funeral Mass will be March 1 at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church, 83 Cove Road, New Rochelle. It will be livestreamed at the Church of the Holy Family website and YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/@Holy-Family-Church.
