Members of the St. John the Beloved School band attended a special concert by the Philadelphia Orchestra on March 5 at the Kimmel Center in Center City.
The event was part of the Jane H. Kesson Concert Series, designed to expose students to “the exciting and powerful art form of orchestral music,” according to band director Ray DiVirgilio.
The theme of the concert was “The Changing Seasons.”
Students were treated to performances of works by Vivaldi, Beethoven, Piazzolla, Frank, Schumann, Mendelssohn and others. The orchestra was conducted by Tristan Rais-Sherman and featured David Kim on violin.
St. John the Beloved band has 60 members in grades 3 through 8.
