Garcia scores four as Archmere posts 9-0 soccer shutout

CLAYMONT – Archmere’s Anna Garcia scored in the fourth minute, and the Auks were never in trouble in a 9-0 shutout of Red Lion Christian in Diamond State Athletic Conference girls soccer April 23.

After Dara Dawson beat Red Lion keeper Maya Muldrow to the far side in the 13th minute to double the Auks’ lead, it was Garcia’s half. The freshman put the game out of reach with three goals in four minutes; she finished with those four tallies. Read more »

Second-half pressure pays off for Raiders in 2-0 soccer triumph

ALAPOCAS – After an evenly played first half, Ursuline took control of the pace and possession and prevailed, 2-0, over St. Elizabeth in girls soccer on a damp field under sunny blue skies April 4 at Alapocas Run State Park.

Ursuline came out firing in the second half, keeping the Vikings’ defense and keeper Avery Toper quite busy. In the 41st minute, the Raiders had a free kick deflected out by a St. Elizabeth player, and three minutes later, Martha Skehan hit a post from 25 yards out. Read more »

Sals, Ursuline move closer to swimming tournament with wins over Mount Pleasant

WILMINGTON – With just under two weeks remaining until the state championship meet, defending champions Ursuline and Salesianum added victories over Mount Pleasant to their dual-meet records on Feb. 13 at P.S. DuPont Middle School. The Raiders won all but two events in a 104-66 win, while the Sals counted on their depth to take down the Green Knights’ boys, 87-71. Read more »
