A preview of the Diocese of Wilmington’s 150th anniversary year with Father Joseph McQuaide can be heard on the Feb. 25 edition of Catholic Forum, the Diocese of Wilmington’s radio program/podcast.

Catholic Forum airs Sunday mornings at 9:05 on WAAI-FM 100.9 in Hurlock, Maryland and at 10:06 on WDEL 1150AM and 101.7FM in Wilmington or wdel.com.

Diocese of Wilmington set to celebrate 150th anniversary

WILMINGTON – A diocese’s sesquicentennial happens only once, and the Diocese of Wilmington is making sure the anniversary is marked in a prominent manner.

The Diocese of Wilmington will begin a yearlong celebration of its 150th anniversary beginning March 3 with a Mass at the Cathedral of St. Peter, and ending with Mass March 3, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Church in Wilmington. The 365 days in between will be filled with various events to commemorate the sesquicentennial.

Diocese’s 150th anniversary: ‘A time of joyful thanks to God’

Diocese’s plans for its sesquicentennial anniversary year include Eucharistic Congress, pilgrimages

 

The Diocese of Wilmington will celebrate the 150th anniversary of its founding with a year-long observance that will include Masses and prayer services, pilgrimages, a keepsake publication, a traveling exhibit, and a Eucharistic Congress.

The celebration commemorates the March 3, 1868 establishment of the Diocese of Wilmington by Blessed Pope Pius IX. Read more »
