The great 2017 earthquake of Dover was really more hype than headline.

Father James Lentini, pastor of Holy Cross parish in Dover, said the most memorable aspect of the Dec. 1 temblor was his phone lighting up from concerned friends who heard the news that a shaker measured at magnitude 4.1 and was centered just outside of Dover. Read more »

Crossing the thresholds of mercy: Bishop Malooly announces eight diocesan Holy Doors for pilgrims to visit during Year of Mercy

Bishop Malooly will open the observance of the special jubilee Year of Mercy in the Diocese of Wilmington on Dec. 13. by opening the Holy Door at Ss. Peter and Paul Church in Easton, Md.

The door opened by the bishop at the 10:30 a.m. Mass that Sunday in Easton will be one of eight the bishop has selected as Holy Doors at parishes in the diocese’s regional deaneries. Read more »

Holy Cross adds a chapel, relocates the library

DOVER – Holy Cross School has taken  an available classroom on its multi-building campus in Dover and transformed it into a chapel for individual class liturgies or other services.

Holy Cross principal Haydee Rosario said the chapel came about after discussions by school officials and parish priests. The school had room in its junior high school building after some grades were consolidated from three sections into two. Read more »

Bishop tells prisoners Jesus was born for all

Bishop Malooly proclaimed the joy of Christmas during Masses at two prisons Dec. 17 and 19 and brought the inmates the message that Jesus was born for all and wants to draw everyone closer to him.

The bishop’s Masses were on Dec. 17 at Vaughn Correctional Center in Smyrna and Dec. 19 at Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution in New Castle.
