Schweizer leads St. Mark’s with six as girls lacrosse defeats Caesar Rodney

By

DOVER – Kendra Schweizer scored six times, and Clare Estes had two goals and four assists as St. Mark’s girls lacrosse team kept rolling with an 18-1 victory over Caesar Rodney on April 14 at Scott D. Miller Stadium at Wesley College. The teams met as part of the annual Dave Reynolds Lacrosse Festival, and the Spartans sure were feeling festive as this one progressed.

Riders keeper Jasmin Hall was on point, stopping three Spartans shots right off the bat, and that kept CR in the contest for the first part of the opening half. St. Mark’s – ranked second in the state by 302Sports.com – owned the time of possession, and that eventually paid dividends. On the first free-position opportunity of the afternoon, Meg Noonan opted to turn away from the net instead of shoot, and she dished to Schweizer. The senior danced around two defenders and beat Hall high from point-blank range three minutes into the contest. Read more »

Caesar Rodney overwhelms St. Mark’s in boys lacrosse in Dover

By

DOVER – St. Mark’s boys lacrosse team went toe to toe with the state’s third-ranked boys lacrosse team, for much of the first quarter on April 14, but the Riders justified their lofty ranking with a 16-6 win at Scott D. Miller Stadium at Wesley College. It was the fifth and final game of the Dave Reynolds Lacrosse Festival at the central Delaware campus.

Things started well enough for the Spartans, as senior attacker Ian Noonan picked up the ball off the opening faceoff, raced 50 yards upfield and buried a laser behing Riders goalkeeper Jacob Stant. His goal energized the sizeable contingent of St. Mark’s fans who made the trip to Dover. Read more »

St. Mark’s rides second-half surge to girls lacrosse win over Padua

By

MILLTOWN – St. Mark’s used a goal-scoring spree early in the second half to take control of what had been a tight contest as the Spartans rolled to a 15-7 win in girls lacrosse over Catholic rival Padua. St. Mark’s remained undefeated on the young season, while the Pandas suffered their first loss on a cold, damp day where spring remained just a cruel rumor.

Kendra Schweizer opened the second-half scoring, giving the Spartans a 7-5 lead, but it turned into the Megan Noonan Show after that. She scored three goals in a span of 2:49, prompting the Pandas to call a timeout and stretching the hosts’ lead to four. Read more »
