The Little Sisters of the Poor have ministered to the elderly in the Diocese of Wilmington since 1903, when they opened their first home in Wilmington at the invitation of Bishop Thomas Becker. The first facility filled quickly and was replaced soon after by St. Joseph’s Home at the corner of Fourth Street and Bancroft Parkway in Wilmington.
The Jeanne Jugan Residence was dedicated on April 23, 1976. All low-income elderly are welcomed regardless of race or religion. For more information about the Little Sisters or the Jeanne Jugan Residence, go to www.littlesistersofthepoordelaware.org.
