Celebrate Blessed Mother’s Birthday with the Legion of Mary at St. Elizabeth Church, on Broom St., in Wilmington on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 8:15 a.m. The day begins with Mass, followed by Rosary, procession around the church grounds, and crowning of the Blessed Mother at the Grotto. The event wraps up with brunch at Grant Hall with guest speaker Deacon Ken Pulliam.
On Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. various locations in the diocese will host the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Four churches and two cemeteries in Delaware are participating in this annual day of remembrance: Church of the Holy Child, 2500 Naamans Road, Wilmington; St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington; Holy Cross Church, 631 S. State St., Dover; and St. Jude the Apostle Church, 152 Tulip Drive, Lewes. Cathedral Cemetery, the burial site of 63 aborted babies, is located at 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, and Gate of Heaven Cemetery, which has the gravesite of seven aborted babies, is at 32112 Vines Creek Road, Dagsboro. Also on Sept. 12, the LOAH Cecil County Division hosts 10 a.m. Mass at St. Patrick’s Chapel, 237 Pleasant Grove Road, in Conowingo. Save the date now for the Diocese of Wilmington’s Annual Marian Pilgrimage, on Sept. 26 at Shrine of Our Lady Queen of Peace on the campus of Holy Spirit Church, New Castle. The theme is “Our Lady of Nazareth” and the guest speaker will be Rev. Matthew Kauth of the Diocese of Charlotte, N.C., rector of St. Joseph College Seminary, and author of “The Imitation of Saint Joseph.” Fr. Kauth will speak on drawing more closely to Our Lady through Saint Joseph. The day begins at 10 a.m. Complimentary breakfast items are available at 9:30 a.m. in the gymnasium. Participants may bring their own lunch or may purchase lunch on site for $10. Lunch will be prepared by the parish’s Hispanic community.
