Bishop Koenig toured St. Ann School in Wilmington after Mass on Dec. 8.
He spent time visiting each classroom and fielding students’ questions from “What is God?” (“God is Love”) to “Do you pay taxes?” (to which the bishop joked, “Are you from the IRS?” before answering “yes.”)
More than one student asked him about his “necklace.”
The bishop explained that the gold cross around his neck was a gift from Bishop John Barres of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, N.Y.
Bishop Koenig told the children that the cross reminded him of Jesus and to try to be like Jesus.
