Archmere football wins eighth straight with shutout of Charter

CLAYMONT – Archnmere’s football team continued its winning ways Nov. 3, taking its eighth straight with a 42-0 win over Wilmington Charter.

The Auks, ranked sixth in Division II by 302Sports.com, got on the board early as Devin Houston found Louis Rosato  on a 26-yard pass play for a quick 7-0 lead. The Auks defense was stout all afternoon and forced a quick punt. The Auks would add a secomd TD as Evan Hernick scampered 36 yards to make it 14-0.

The Auks would add another touchdown before the end of the first quarter as Darren DiRenzo scored on a 9-yard run. It would not be his only trip to the end zone. DiRenzo picked off a pass and returned it 36 yards for a pick 6 and a 28-0 lead in the second quarter. The Auks added another touchdown before the half as DiRenzo completed the hat trick, this time scoring on a 26-yard pass from Houston.

The Auks would complete the scoring as Houston scored on a fourth and goal from the 4.

The Auks completed their third straight shutout on defense and fifth in nine games. Houston ran for 68 yards on four carries and threw for 62 yards as he totaled three touchdowns. The Auks (8-1) finish the regular season on Thursday night as they visit First State Military Academy at 5 p.m. at the Kent County Recreation Center.

The Force (1-8) finish their season on Saturday morning, hosting Red Lion at 11.
