WILMINGTON — Lauren DiSabatino, the lower and middle school athletic coordinator at Ursuline Academy for the past 15 months, is the new athletic director at Ursuline, the school has announced.

DiSabatino will succeed Stephanie Mark, who has held the position on an interim basis for the last year and a half. Mark will remain at Ursuline as the varsity lacrosse coach, succeeding Feffie Barnhill, who retired last spring after seven seasons coaching the Raiders.

DiSabatino, a graduate of St. Elizabeth High School who attends St. Anthony of Padua Parish, will be Ursuline’s third full-time athletic director. Laura Capodanno served in the position from the 1950s through 1981, and Susan Heiss was there from 1982-2022. DiSabatino has 14 years of experience as an athletic director, most recently at Padua Academy.

She is also an experienced teacher and volleyball coach. At Padua, she led the Pandas to three state championships in eight seasons at the helm and was the state coach of the year in 2013-14. As a player, she was a two-time first-team all-state selection for St. Elizabeth and was the state Gatorade player of the year as a senior in 2001. She played collegiately at Wilmington University.

She attended Ursuline from kindergarten through fifth grade.
