PERRYVILLE, Md.Good Shepherd Catholic School might have had to postpone Superhero Day that was scheduled for Catholic Schools Week, but sixth-grade student Kediell Llopiz and others will prove this week that they are superheroes in the classroom.

Kediell, wearing a Marvel t-shirt, showed off his entry into the school’s science fair, which will take place the night of Feb. 1 at the Perryville school. He made balloon-powered vehicles using old compact discs for wheels, plastic water bottles, balloons of different sizes and straws.

“In my hypothesis, I said the small balloon car would go a little faster, but at a shorter distance, but this one would go slower but at a farther distance,” he said. “And I was right.”

Kediell lives in nearby Port Deposit and is in his first year at Good Shepherd. He said it is the right school for him.

“It’s a great community with a lot of good people here. And the teachers are nice. So is the principal,” he said, also naming other staff members who have made his arrival a successful one.

“There’s technology, Lego Club, Robotics Club and the Book Club. I want to join those.”

The martial arts demonstration scheduled for Superhero Day will be rescheduled.
