The SL24 Memorial Classic, the basketball event held in memory of the late Sean Locke, topped its previous best fundraising total by approximately $80,000 and now has raised more than $2.2 million in six years to help young people who need help with mental health.

It was held Feb. 2-3 at the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington and featured eight games over two days. Locke, a graduate of Mount Aviat Academy and Saint Mark’s High School, took his own life in 2018; his family was not aware of his battle with depression.

The UnLocke the Light Foundation is active in mental health awareness at the University of Delaware, where Locke played basketball for the Blue Hens, and several high schools.
