Boys volleyball is in just its second season as a championship sport in Delaware, and two title contenders will do battle this week with their respective perfect records on the line. It’s also a significant rivalry week, with rivals meeting on the baseball diamond in New Castle County, as well as crosstown foes getting together to wrap up the week with a lacrosse game.

Don’t forget to confirm dates and times before making the trip. Schedules are always subject to change.

Baseball

Tuesday, April 30

St. Elizabeth (2-9) at Wilmington Charter (3-6), 3:45 p.m.

Archmere (7-3) vs. Delaware Military (9-2), 4 p.m. at Newark National Little League. This is the first of two meetings between the Auks and Seahawks this week, but the first one counts toward the Diamond State Athletic Conference standings. Archmere brings a solid lineup to the plate to face the defending state champs, whose pitching staff is among the stingiest in Delaware.

Ss. Peter and Paul at St. Vincent Pallotti, 4 p.m.

Wednesday, May 1

Salesianum (7-3) at Saint Mark’s (10-3), 4 p.m. The rivals square off for the only time this season after meeting each other twice for what seems like an eternity. The Sals’ pitching has been very good, having given up two runs or less in their last six games. The Spartans have some arms themselves, with two shutouts in their last three games.

Thursday, May 2

Delaware Military at Archmere, 4 p.m.

Chapelgate Christian at Ss. Peter and Paul, 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 4

St. Elizabeth at Brandywine (9-2), 11 a.m.

Archmere at Wilmington Charter, 11 a.m.

Saint Mark’s at St. Georges (7-4), 11 a.m.

Gerstell at Ss. Peter and Paul (9-3), 4 p.m.

Friday, May 3

Ss. Peter and Paul at Park, 4 p.m.

Saturday, May 4

Wilmington Friends (8-0) at Archmere, 11 a.m. The Quakers and Auks both have big postseason aspirations, and they’ll get to see what each other has in this Penna Strong game, in whch the Archmere community remembers a fallen Auk. The Quakers allow the fewest goals per game of any team in the state, which will be a challenge for the talented Auks attackers.

Salesianum at Malvern (Pa.), noon

Saint Mark’s at Tower Hill (4-4), 1 p.m.

Ss. Peter and Paul at Easton, 4 p.m. The Sabres make the short trip to rival Easton, and while there are no conference titles on the line, city bragging rights are. Ss. Peter and Paul closes out a busy week against the Warriors and has three games remaining on the schedule after this one.
