Boys hoops enters final full week with tournament berths, seeding on the line

The boys’ basketball season is in its last full week of the season, and it’s a great week to be a basketball fan with many great games on tap.
Tuesday
Jemicy at Ss. Peter and Paul, 4 p.m.

Wilmington Christian (2-16) at Archmere (7-9), 6:15 p.m. The Auks looked good in a tough road loss at Red Lion and has come on strong after a slow start. This starts a busy week against tough competiton.

basketballWilmington Charter (4-13) at St. Mark’s (11-5), 7:30 p.m. The Spartans look for the home win against a Force team that plays hard and just hasn’t been able to win a close game.
Friends (10-6) at Salesianum (12-5), 7:30 p.m. The Quakers almost pulled out a win against the Vikings now they look to end the Sals’ hot stretch as they have won six of seven.
St. Thomas More (14-3) at DAPSS (5-11), 7:45 p.m. The second-ranked Ravens look to remain undefeated in state and win their 13th in a row.
Wednesday
Archmere at St. Elizabeth (10-7), 7:15 p.m. The Vikings ended a two-game losing streak with an overtime win vs. Friends and now faces an Auks team that plays them tough.
Thursday
Wilmington Charter at St. Elizabeth, 7:15 p.m.
Delcastle (7-9) at St. Mark’s, 7:15 p.m.
Friday
Newark Charter (13-5) at Archmere, 6:15 p.m. The Auks look for an upset on senior night as they fight for a spot in the state tournament.
Ss. Peter and Paul at Cristo Rey, 7 p.m.
Saturday
St. Elizabeth at Appoquinimink (11-5), 3 p.m. The Vikings end the season on the road looking for a signature win before the tournament starts.
Salesianum at Sussex Tech (5-12) 3 p.m.
St. Mark’s at Middletown (6-10), 7:15 p.m.

Catholic boys reach pivotal stage of basketball season

The season is in its pivotal stretch, and the boys schedule is filled this week including two huge Catholic battles.

Tuesday

Archmere (6-8) at Wilmington Charter (4-10), 5:15 p.m. The Auks have played better coming down the stretch as they have won four of their last seven. The Force has struggled, having played the top four Flight A teams in their last four games. Read more »

Get out of the deep freeze with top girls high school teams

The second week in January sees some top-10 teams battling for some early season breathing room. This week also sees some nationally ranked teams playing Ursuline and St Elizabeth.

Monday
St. Mark’s (3-3) at Delaware Military Academy (5-2), 5:15 p.m. The Spartans have won two in a row and look for the road upset against a Seahawks team that has won five straight after an 0-2 start.
basketballArchbishop John Carroll (Pa.) (7-0) at Ursuline (7-1), 6 p.m. The Raiders face a stiff out-of-state test. No. 1 Ursuline seeks its seventh win in a row and to hand Carroll its first loss this season.
Tuesday
Milford (4-5) at St Elizabeth (3-5), 6:45 p.m.
Wednesday
Ss. Peter and Paul at Worcester Prep, 4 p.m.
Thursday
Christiana (3-4) at St Thomas More (6-1) 4:45 p.m. The Ravens look to keep up their winning ways at home against the Vikings.
Friday
Ss. Peter and Paul at Salisbury Christian, 4 p.m.
Concord (6-1) at Archmere (8-2), 6:15 p.m. The Raiders, ranked eighth, have been playing well since a lost to Caravel before Christmas. No. 7 Archmere has played great defense all season.
Padua (2-6) at Newark Charter (4-5), 6:15 p.m. The Pandas are coming off a tough week and would like a road win to build their confidence.
Caravel (6-3) at St. Elizabeth, 7:15 p.m. The fifth-ranked Buccaneers looked good last week in beating previously undefeated Conrad on the road and now head to No. 6 St. Elizabeth. The Vikings have played a tough local and national schedule.
Sunday
Ursuline vs. Archbishop Wood (Pa.) (5-4), at Philadelphia University, time TBA.
St Elizabeth vs. Cardinal O’Hara (Pa.) (7-2), at Philadelphia University, 4 pm.

The second week of January is a week filled with top-10 matchups in boys hoops.

Tuesday
St Elizabeth (5-2) at William Penn (4-3), 5:15 p.m. The Vikings start a busy week with a tough road test at a Colonials team that is playing better right now.
basketballSs. Peter and Paul at Park School, 5:30 p.m.
Salesianum (5-3) at Smyrna (7-2), 7:15 p.m. The Sals face the second-ranked Eagles on the road, looking to rebound after a tough loss to St. Elizabeth last Friday.
Wednesday

Cristo Rey at Ss. Peter and Paul, 7 p.m.

Thursday
Archmere (3-5) at Tatnall (4-5), 5:15 p.m. The Auks look to build on their double-overtime win against Delaware Military Academy, and a road win against the Hornets would help their confidence.
Christiana (3-5) at St. Thomas More (5-3), 6 p.m. 
Sanford (4-5) at St. Elizabeth, 7:15 p.m. The Vikings will look to knock off the defending champions at home. Sanford has played one of the toughest schedules in the state so far.
Friday
St Mark’s (5-1) at Milford (5-3) 6:15 p.m. The Spartans look to rebound from their first loss, and a road win at Milford is no easy task.
Ss. Peter and Paul at Concordia Christian, 7:15 p.m.
Saturday
St. Thomas More at Caravel (4-1), 1:15 p.m. The fifth-ranked Ravens face a tough road test against O’Koye Parker and the Buccaneers. These are two good teams that fly a bit under the radar in Delaware boys basketball.
