The impending Christmas break brings with it a slowdown to the high school sports scene, but not a halt. There are games dotting the schedule for those who might want a break from last-minute gift shopping.

Girls basketball brings a battle of two schools enjoying a quick start in Saint Mark’s and Conrad, and on the boys’ side, Salesianum travels below the canal to meet Appoquinimink, a rivalry that has produced some great battles in recent seasons. If you are a swimming fan, keep an eye on the meet between Saint Mark’s and Newark; both the Spartans and Yellow Jackets girls are undefeated in the early going.

As usual, it’s not a bad idea to confirm dates and times before making the trip.
